A trend I looove to see is non-traditional weddings that really pull in all the unique qualities and formative details of the whole love story leading up to the wedding day. Sometimes these details are cultural, pulled from a familial diaspora and heritage. Sometimes these details are cultural in a different way.
What makes Becca and Dan's wedding day unique was the desire to choose tradition where it suited them, and to choose to express themselves and their journey together.
As a wedding photographer, it's important for me to see the charm, quirkiness, and overall personality of my nearlyweds, and to find a way to capture their wedding in ways that don't hide all of that, but highlight it.
Becca's hair and makeup by Lauren Lauth hits high glam notes with that subtle glowy highlight that's totally chef's kiss. I love capturing this early chapter of the day, because there's such story in transformation.
We had such bright, beautiful, hot sun for the ceremony, but you'd never know it from how beautifully happy these two were from beginning to end.
Becca and Dan from the very beginning trusted the process and let me do my thing. And the thing is: a good wedding photographer can work with whatever they're given, even if it's just someone's backyard. (And these were, in fact, just someone's backyard.)
After some apps and first dances, we broke away from the hustle and bustle to chase the sun as it was setting behind the trees. A golden hour like this with such a silky sunlight is what dreams are made of.
With Dan having a small food truck business, he and Becca switched from traditional catering to having local food trucks present with a variety of options. With games, dancing, and plenty of desserts, friends and family partied on into the night hours.
