Two hours south of Pittsburgh sits a small lavender farm in the emerald hills of West Virginia, and leading right up to Vida and Isaac's date in June had been severe storm after storm.
No joke, the day before had rain pouring down from a severe storm with a potential for tornados into the night.
And then the very next morning was a bright, beautiful sunny day: perfect for lavender cocktails, tarot readings, and a rainbow wedding.
Vida and Isaac brought in a tarot reader for the day, an awesome activity for guests to partake in during the reception.
They also had their own personal readings before the ceremony, with deeply personal revelations and a sense of comforting presences.
The decor was more than just a fairy garden theme: Vida and Isaac brought in a collection of personal details to tuck into the florals and between the candles.
Instead of table numbers, guests would locate their table by tarot card, with a place card explaining the significance of their card.
An exchange of emotional vows and speeches had all of us in tears, even their good friend and officiant standing with them.
With us so close to the solstice, we had a lot of daylight to play around with. Once the sun crested the tree line, we took a stroll through the lavender field.
The best queer hits played alongside some of my all-time favorite club hits as the party continued into the night.
One of my big reasons for staying the whole day instead of offering hourly packages: the last dance. It's wonderful and celebratory, with all of your favorite people surrounding you. How can I possibly leave this core memory, or other final moments, out of the gallery?
